Sometimes infection remains at the tip of a root even after a root canal. A small pocket of infection can linger at the very tip of the root. The dentist makes a small opening in the gum to reach that root tip. The infected tip of the root is removed along with the infection around it. A small filling is placed to seal the end of the root. The gum is closed, and the bone heals around the sealed root. The result is a tooth kept in place with the infection cleared. This video is for general education only.
