A stroke can strike suddenly, and every minute counts. A sudden loss of balance, or trouble seeing, can be warnings. One side of the face may droop or go numb. One arm may drift down when raised. Speech may slur, or stop making sense. Any of these signs means it is time to call 911 right away. Fast treatment can limit the damage a stroke causes.
