Farsightedness, or hyperopia, is the opposite of nearsightedness. Close work tends to blur first, while distance is usually easier. In a farsighted eye, the eyeball is often a little too short from front to back, or the cornea is too flat. That means light is still converging when it reaches the retina. Its focal point falls behind the back of the eye. Younger eyes can often compensate by using the focusing muscle inside the eye to add extra power. That constant effort is why mild farsightedness can cause tired eyes, headaches, or difficulty concentrating on reading, even when vision seems clear. As that focusing ability naturally decreases with age, hidden farsightedness often becomes noticeable, and blur appears at near first, then at distance. Most children are slightly farsighted and grow out of it. A larger amount, especially if unequal between the eyes, can affect visual development and needs checking. Glasses or contact lenses with a convex, magnifying shape add the missing focusing power, bringing light forward onto the retina. This video is for general education only. It is not medical advice.
